Merlinda's Cafe near Sherwood Park Avenue in Sidcup offers a straightforward, no-frills spot for a casual meal or coffee break. It’s the kind of neighborhood cafe that feels practical and unpretentious, catering largely to locals grabbing breakfast or a quick lunch.

The cafe is most notable for its traditional English breakfast offerings, with sets featuring staples like eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, and baked beans. The menu also includes a range of omelettes, various daily specials such as chicken curry or roasts, and some classic comfort food options like lasagne and chilli con carne. This makes it a flexible choice whether you want a hearty morning start or a simple mid-day meal.

Atmosphere-wise, Merlinda’s strikes a balance between familiar and tidy. The interior feels freshly refurbished, maintaining that classic cafe vibe without feeling dated. It’s the kind of place where you might pop in when running errands nearby or if you’re waiting around Sidcup for an appointment—one reviewer mentioned dropping in for a breakfast while waiting at a local garage, highlighting the cafe’s appeal for a no-nonsense, quick sit down.

Coffee here leans towards the milky side for some tastes but remains a solid pick for the local crowd who appreciate a steady caffeine fix alongside their food. The service is polite and efficient, though parking nearby can be limited, making it more appealing to foot traffic or quick stops rather than longer linger sessions.

This cafe tends to draw a mix of regulars and local workers, appreciated for reasonably priced food and straightforward portions. It’s not about artisanal flair but about ticking the right boxes for comfort and familiarity in an everyday setting. If you’re looking for crisp, well-buttered toast or a bacon roll with crusty bread rather than gourmet toppings, Merlinda’s fits the bill.

Best times to visit: Breakfast and lunch hours, especially if you’re nearby running errands or stopping in for a simple, filling meal. The vibe is relaxed but efficient, making it a practical choice rather than a place to linger long hours.

Popped in for a couple of bacon sandwiches to takeaway. Nice crusty bread, not the greatest quality bacon but the price here is very reasonable. Cafe clean with polite staff Limited parking

This newly refurb cafe is quite lovely. Traditional cafe with good food. Though the coffee was a bit milky for my taste it was still good.

Stopped here for lunch and tried the all-day breakfast sets, toast, and kids menu. Everything was lovely and done perfectly. Will visit again when in the area.

I was having a part fitted at Halfords and it would take a up to 2 hours. I looked around the area and saw Merlinda's Cafe. Good choice of meals, I opted for thje medium breakfast, and prompt service. The meal was well presented and exactly what I ordered. I must admit the toast was the real highlight of the meal. It is not often the toast is so perfect; crisp base with soft butter top. I savoured the two pieces of toast. I was there for 90 mminutes with no pressure to leave.

It was a sudden find for coffee only, might go there again to try the food. Lovely and warm environment. Looked quite popular among locals. The interior was clean. Staffs were friendly and welcoming. The coffee was good but way too hot to drink even after 5 minutes. There were enough sitting places available. There was no queue. There is limited road side parking in front of the shop. Anyway, liked the place, wanna go again to try food.

Performed at the school down the road, and needed somewhere for breakfast afterwards. There was nothing else open before 11. Very happy with the service and the food here. Friendly, smiley staff and quick, hot food. Testy and good portion sizes. A good number of people there too, a nice vibe.

Nice breakfast after Bexley parkrun. Eggs were really good, but sausages could have been better. Came with toast from nice bread but unfortunately only one hash brown. Added some black pudding as was feeling hungry.
